Yesterday morning we went to the wedding open day at our reception venue. They hold them a couple of times a year when they allow people to come and look at the rooms set up for either an actual ceremony or wedding breakfast, depending on what is taking place that day.
It wasn't like a wedding fair when there are suppliers and examples of layouts etc but you saw the actual wedding preparations. Obviously you aren't able to wander round the tables when the staff / florists are laying stuff out but you are able to look from the open doors at the end.
They did let me take a couple of pictures of the ballroom we are having our reception in {since we had already booked the venue}, just so we could remember how many tables they had set up. The wedding below was set for 112 people which is more than we will have and I was relieved to see it didn't look cramped at all and at the same time, no table seemed to be too far away from the top table in the centre. They had 9 guest tables set up, some with 10 people and some with 12, with our numbers we will probably be able to have 9 tables with only 10 on each then our top table with 8. We are going to use curved tables on the end of the top table so that the people on the end are more included.

Later on we did some shopping as I'm starting to look for a dress for my friends wedding {seen a possibility and I even managed to get into the size 12!}, then spent the afternoon with friends and their babies before heading home for an Indian takeaway and a bottle of rose champagne {not particularly celebrating anything but why not since it was in the flat!}
Once we got home we discovered our honeymoon confirmation had arrived from Kuoni via Travel Counsellors for us to review. I'm so so so excited about the honeymoon but we also have plenty trips to look forward to before then {Sheffield; London; Cotswolds & Florida}.
Hi and thanks for your note on my blog - love finding fellow British Brides and 2010ers.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe how organised you already are though - it's making me panic a bit...!
