03.04.10 Our Day by Design: The Girls Arrival

While the boys were getting portraits taken and greeting the guests, we were on our way. The journey did seem to take quite a while and although I was conscious of the fact we had left a little later than planned, I didn't have a watch on and dad wouldn't tell me the actual time in case I freaked out! However, as the driver then pointed out; he could only travel at 55mph so there wasn't much we could do about the journey time! Me and dad chatted all the way and I re-touched my lipstick and lip gloss at one of the million sets of traffic lights we went through as there was a handy mirror inside the car! The bridesmaids arrived first and waited outside with mum and the ushers until I arrived. Then we pulled into Haddington and soon were at the traffic lights before the church. All I could see at this point was the minister waiting for us and LOADS of people waiting to see me; it was all a bit surreal! After some photos; it was time for me to get out of the car, with a lit...

Rehearsal Dinner {Recap}

After the rehearsal we all headed down to where we were having dinner. I went the short distance in the car with my mum and dad since we had all of the bridal party & parents gifts in the boot, and there were too many to carry! Everyone who was at the rehearsal came down and we also met the other bridesmaids partners there too, which made 25 people in total. We had booked the private room at the Conservative Club in Haddington, which also does food, as we thought would be nicer than being in a crowded restaurant and its close to the church. We were spread out over just 2 tables which worked out great. After getting some drinks & ordering, since it was our flowergirl Georgia's birthday, we gave her her present. Birthday Gift Then we gave our the gifts to the bridesmaids , best man & ushers , our parents and we also got some champagne for the other reader, Grahams uncle Brian. Giving the Bridal Party & Parents Gifts After dinner, Georgia's mum had brought a bir...

Time to Rehearse {Recap}

I'm going to start the recaps with the wedding rehearsal which took place the night before, on Good Friday, the 2nd of April. I have decided to wait to do the honeymoon recaps after I have told you all about the wedding, as I wanted to keep it in order, and since I still had the few DIY items to tell you about first too! After we had finished at Ocean Terminal, Dad headed to the station to pick up Ashleigh's fiance Patrick and Graham came to pick up me, mum, Ashleigh & Enzo. We dropped them off at mums then headed home to get ready. After packing the last stuff I would need for the next day, and getting all of the bridal party & parents gifts too {which almost took up the whole boot}, I dropped my stuff off at mums & transferred the gifts to dads car before heading down to the church. I went with mum & dad while Graham took our car down to his mum & dads so we could leave it there while we were away on honeymoon. I used the journey down to post a couple ...

Bridesmaids Gifts

We gave the bridesmaids, best man, ushers and parents their gifts at the rehearsal dinner night before the wedding so I didn't want to share what we got them before then. I'm going to start with the bridesmaids gifts. All of the gifts could be used on the wedding day; we got them jewellery, a hair comb; a clutch bag and a pashmina. We also got them a letter tag of the first initial but that was just for the gift boxes {and hopefully they will hang them on their Christmas trees}, rather than for the wedding. The girls dresses had rhinestones on the back so I wanted to find jewellery that had some crystals incorporated. I didn't just want crystals though so started looking for pearl & crystal earrings & necklaces . After a lot of searching {almost every set I found just had metal backs and I was looking specifically for sterling silver, since that's all I can wear myself}, I found a lovely delicate set, including earrings and a necklace, on Etsy, from seller K...
