Save the date!

I am finally getting round to posting about my first DIY project, our Save the Date cards! Most of them have now been sent or given to our day guests. I just have a couple more to post this week after getting the last few addresses from mum. {Excuse all the smudgyness in the pictures, I wanted to make sure no names or addresses were shown!} To make the cards I used the following: Card - Dark purple card that we found at the Paper Mill ; Paper - Sparkling White Iridescent paper from the Folio range at Paper State { Hobbycraft }; Overlay - Marble Transmarque translucent paper also from the Folio range at Paper State {Hobbycraft}; Stamp - Holly Blossoms rubber stamp from the Decorative Blossoms set by Hero Arts { Ebay }; Ink - Violet Versacolor ink from Tsukineko {Hobbycraft}; Tools - Making Memories Instant Setter with the Slot Punch attachment {Ebay}; Ribbon - Purple & white ribbon from Kate's Paperie ; Stamp - Custom 'Made by Gaynor' barcode stamp from Mirrama...

Bits & bobs

We have managed to do a few wedding related things over the last week or so but they probably don't need a post of their own! I sent more of the save the date cards out; the only ones left to do and be sent are the ones that I was waiting for their addresses, or ones where I managed to spell the names wrong! A proper post will follow about the save the date cards once they have all been sent. I liked how they turned out and we have had some lovely comments about them too. We got our honeymoon confirmation and deposit receipt along with booking forms through last week. The forms are to confirm what our Travel Counsellor Helene had already booked for us, so we signed and returned those on Saturday. They came in a travel wallet with luggage tags too which may be useful. We also received a 'have a happy honeymoon' card from Helene on Thursday which was a nice touch. We are now waiting on the official confirmation and invoice from Kuoni which will detail our itinerary. This mo...

Trying something new...

Thought it was about time I changed my blog header to a slightly more exciting font / design than blogger allows. I will probably be playing around with it for days to come as I'm not sure that I'm totally sold on it yet (possibly the little flower image* could be bigger, I could use a different font or a different colour) but I definitely think its much better than before. Oh and I also changed the blog template to the stretched version as I felt the posts were a bit thin & long before, however this is also taking some getting used to so I may change it back again. *The flower image is the stamp we have used on the save the date cards and will also be using on the invitations. Updated on 9 July: See, I couldn't even leave it as it was for a full day!

The colour purple

Purple is one of my favourite colours and I definitely wanted to incorporate it into the wedding. The bridesmaids dresses are going to be purple but a really deep dark shade, rather than a bright or lighter purple. We are also using it as the main colour of the invitations and have already made the save the date cards* with purple card backing & purple ribbon. All the other stationery items (order of service, table plan, table names & place cards) will also follow the same theme. As the tables will already have some hints of purple from the stationery, I think we may also use some purple flowers. Since its Easter Saturday we are getting married on I think spring flowers like tulips would be lovely. Although I absolutely love orchids and I'm sure they will also be making an appearance somewhere. Until I collect enough relevant images and get round to making my own, I leave you with some gorgeous purple inspiration boards from Snippet & Ink , The Wedding Decorator , The ...

I love Etsy!

I have recently discovered the delights of Etsy and the hundreds of wonderful handmade items in the shops. I have already managed to find and purchase a couple of items with a good few more listed in my favourites to go back to at a later date. I found some cus tomised return address labels from Etsy seller lettercdesign to use on the rest of the save the dates we are posting - they are fab as they have the same font that we used on the save the dates as well as a dandelion in the centre which is similar (or at least the same sort of thing) as the single flower stamp we used on the save the dates and their envelopes! Dandelion - Return Address Labels (Image from lettercdesign) I also found some other stickers to use on new baby gifts, cards or even envelopes. I wont share a pic here in case all the mums & dads to be that I plan to use them for are reading this!
