Our Day by Design

Time for some of the details from our day! Ive already written about all of the DIY items but here is how everything looked on the day! The ushers welcomed everyone to the church by giving them an order of service . I ended up making too many of them but it was better than not having enough. After the receiving line, the guests were able to look at the table plan to find which table they were sitting at, then there were table names on each table. Once the guests had found their tables, the placecards indicated their seat. The guests favours were placed beside the placecards. All of the kids also got Easter eggs we well as the box of mini eggs & a chocolate bunny that each guest received. We also had the menu's on the tables, which looked just like the order of services. The G & G letters were placed in front of the cake, then there was the little Lego bride and groom on our cake. I wrote about our plan for the table names here and our list of possible names. We narrowed them down and since we only need 10 tables in total, we are using the following: Empire State Building Chrysler Building Guggenheim Museum Statue of Liberty Rockefeller Center Flatiron Building Grand Central Station United Nations Building Trump World Tower Brooklyn Bridge The top table is the Empire State Building and the bridesmaids and ushers are sitting at the Chrysler Building! Since we are having tall flower centrepieces on each table {except for the top table which will have low flowers}, I decided that I didnt want to use the normal table number holders that our venue has. Instead we bought square wooden frames from HobbyCraft that I painted with the purple paint we got for our G&G letters. I completed them all on Saturday and I think they all turned out great. On Thursday last week, we went through to Kilmarnock to to meet our photographers . We ran through what times they are going to arrive and when we would take the group photos as well as the order we will do them in and which ones we would get taken. It was lovely to see them again, and it was great to get the order of the day sorted out a bit more as well. On the way home we popped in to the large Hobbycraft at the Glasgow Fort so that I could pick up 9 of the square wooden frames that I'm planning to paint then use to put the table names in since we are having tall centrepieces on each table. I had got one in the Hobbycraft near us last week and once I had decided they were the correct size, I wanted to make sure I could get them. Once we got home, I had an email from our venue coordinator with the additional menu price attached. Lets just say it was way more than we were willing to pay and following a bit of back and forward emailing, it turns out they had put the wrong main co...

I was reminded of our plan for the table names when I saw the picture below on Seven Weddings . (Image from here ) Since we got engaged in New York, we are also planning to name all our tables after New York buildings, which also ties in with my job and is very me, with the top table being the Empire State. Our list so far includes: Empire State Building Chrysler Building Guggenheim Museum Statue of Liberty Rockefeller Center Flatiron Building Grand Central Station Museum of Modern Art Metropolitan Museum of Art United Nations Building Seagram Building Woolworth Building Times Square Tower Trump World Tower Brooklyn Bridge Lincoln Building The Chrysler & Guggenheim are my favourites so they will probably be used for the bridesmaids & ushers tables. Obviously we wont need all of the above and this is just our preliminary list until we finalise the table numbers and decide which to use.
