Blog Inspiration

Before I go any further in my blog I just wanted to give a little nod to the couple of blogs I have been reading and that originally inspired me to write my own. There are of course hundreds more! I came across Wedding in Edinburgh w hen we first started our wedding planning and were beginning to look at options for wedding venues in and around Edinburgh. It has given me loads of hints & tips for local suppliers including some reception venue reviews and particularly a list of all the wedding dress shops in Edinburgh that was invaluable when I was starting to make appointments. I found the second blog when I was researching ideas for my invitations. Road to the Aisle , although based in the US, has given me loads of ideas for making my own stationery and I have thoroughly enjoyed reading all of her posts, especially the ones leading up to her big day. Thank you ladies, I can only hope my blog will be as interesting as yours.

How it all began…

Graham & I have now been together for almost 6 years. We got together on 17th June 2003 (which is also Graham’s birthday) and then bought a flat and moved in together in February 2007. We first met at school as we were in the same class from our very first day. We also lived only 5 minutes apart so our parents knew each other and there were even a few holidays to Florida where our families met up! One interesting fact (that my friends think is hilarious) is that Graham was actually the first boy I ever kissed, at our school Christmas disco when we were 12! We were friends for years and years before Graham finally decided that we should be together. I was a little unsure at first as I didn’t want it to ruin our friendship, however I decided to just see what happened and the rest they say is history.

Weight Watchers

I joined WW on 17th January 2009 in an attempt to lose some weight before I started looking for my wedding dress. I figured it was probably a good time to start as I still had over a year to go until the wedding so could lose the weight slowly but surely! I have been attending weekly weigh-in's and meetings when I can (my meetings are on a saturday!) and im happy to report that it has been working quite well for me and I have lost 20.5 pounds in total. Here is my progress so far: Start Weight [17.01.09] - 12st 6.5lbs Weeks 1 to 12 - Total Loss = 15.5lbs: W1 [24.01.09] -3.5lbs W2 [31.01.09] -4lbs W3 [07.02.09] No Weigh In (A winter wedding) W4 [14.02.09] -2lbs W5 [21.02.09] No WI (SECC Wedding Show) W6 [28.02.09] -3lbs W7 [07.03.09] -1.5lbs W8 [14.03.09] -0.5lbs W9 [21.03.09] -1lb W10 [28.03.09] No WI (Visiting sister in London) W11 [04.04.09] No WI (Stay at reception venue, 1 year to go!) The story so far...

Hello and welcome to my blog. This is my first attempt at writing a blog and as this is a time in my life I will want to look back on in years to come, I thought this would be a good time to start. The wedding planning should give me plenty to write about! Graham and I got engaged on 5th September 2008 in New York and we have now set the date for Saturday 3rd April 2010. So far we have booked the church, reception venue, photographer, band & the cars, and I might have found the dress, all of which I will expand on in further posts. As part of my wedding preparation I have also started Weight Watchers and this blog will follow my progress in the coming months! Hope you enjoy reading.
