Norfolk Broads: October 2010

Back in October last year we spent a week down in the Norfolk Broads with my parents, my sister, her fiance & my nephew and my aunt & uncle. Since we are about to head off for this October's trip, I thought it was time to get caught up with a quick recap! We drove down to Pontefract on the Friday night and met my parents and aunt & uncle at a Premier Inn, just in time for some food and a few glasses of wine. On Saturday morning we continued our journey as far as Norwich to pick up my sister & family at the train station before continuing to our house on The Broads for the week. We stayed at a lodge by the river in the village of Wroxham , which came with a motorised day boat for us to use. The living room / kitchen was upstairs with the four bedrooms on the ground floor.   We took the boat out for the first time on Sunday and made our way slowly towards Horning , mooring right in front of the Swan Inn for lunch, which was delicious!   My dad h...

Ashleigh's London Hen Do

Last weekend, the 20th / 21st November, I was down in London for the Hen Do for my sister Ashleigh, who is getting married on the 18th December. I am the only bridesmaid, or maid of honour, so it was up to me to arrange the weekend of events and keep it a complete surprise from Ashleigh. The only thing she knew was that it was to be held in London, where she lives {since the wedding is up in Edinburgh}, and that we were going to stay over somewhere for one night. It was a fantastic weekend and Ashleigh loved everything I had planned, from start to finish! Since both me, mum, my aunt and Ashleigh's friend Claire had all come down from Edinburgh on the 6.25am flight on Saturday, we had to get up at 4.30am and me, Claire & Ashleigh didn't go to bed until 4.30am on the Sunday morning. We started drinking at Ashleigh's at 11.30am and probably didn't stop until the club closed at 3am, so I was probably drinking for almost 16 of those 24 hours! L-R: Ashleigh, Claire, ...

Our nephew; a wedding & a little bit of Vera!

We had a fantastic trip down to London last weekend to visit my sister Ashleigh, her fiance Patrick and nephew Enzo. We hadn't seen them since the day after the wedding and hadn't been to their new flat yet so thought we were due a visit, especially since Enzo is growing every day! Me, Enzo & Ashleigh We arrived late Friday night and caught up with all their news over a few drinks. We told them all about our honeymoon then they were able to tell us about their wedding plans. They are hoping to get married in Gozo next summer and they are going to Malta next week to look at some venues. So exciting we have another wedding to look forward too and Ashleigh asked me to be her bridesmaid too, which I am so excited about; another fabulous wedding next year! So with plans starting to take shape, Ashleigh booked some dress shop appointments for Saturday, since I was going to be there. We started at Tantrums & Tiaras in Putney before meeting the boys for lunch by the river ...

Sheffield

We had a lovely visit to Sheffield last weekend to visit Grahams sister Hazel & her boyfriend Jake. I had been so busy last year with studying that I hadn't visited their new house. We took the afternoon off on Friday so we could arrive in time for dinner and a nice glass of wine. We spent Saturday shopping at Meadowhall shopping centre before heading home to change before going out for a lovely Indian for dinner and a few drinks in the pub. The weather was fantastic on Sunday so we had a wander round some boutique shops before having a late lunch then heading home. L-R: Graham, Jake & Hazel We haven't got any plans to head back down any time this year, and I will be visiting my sister and my new niece or nephew in London the next time they come up to Scotland. So the next time I see them will be in Manchester airport at the end of November for our trip to Florida! Cant wait {less than 3 months to go!} but I have plenty to look forward too before then including a hen ni...

London

We had a lovely visit to London last weekend to help celebrate my sisters engagement . The weather was fantastic so we took advantage of the sun (since we don't see it enough in Edinburgh) and had lunch and some drinks in a pub beer garden before heading home to change and have a glass of champagne to celebrate before going out for a lovely Italian for dinner. L-R: Graham; dad; mum; Patrick; Ashleigh L-R: Ashleigh; mum; Patrick; Graham; dad L-R: Me; Ashleigh; mum We also managed to fit some baby shopping in on Sunday before we left. Mum and dad wanted to buy them their pram and we wanted to get them a moses basket when we were down so that its here in plenty time for the baby! We haven't got any plans to head back down over the rest of the summer, and we will be quite busy with wedding planning over the next couple of months, so the next time I see them, I will be an auntie! Its so exciting and I cant wait to meet my niece or nephew.
