We had a fantastic trip down to London last weekend to visit my sister Ashleigh, her fiance Patrick and nephew Enzo. We hadn't seen them since the day after the wedding and hadn't been to their new flat yet so thought we were due a visit, especially since Enzo is growing every day!
We arrived late Friday night and caught up with all their news over a few drinks. We told them all about our honeymoon then they were able to tell us about their wedding plans. They are hoping to get married in Gozo next summer and they are going to Malta next week to look at some venues. So exciting we have another wedding to look forward too and Ashleigh asked me to be her bridesmaid too, which I am so excited about; another fabulous wedding next year! So with plans starting to take shape, Ashleigh booked some dress shop appointments for Saturday, since I was going to be there. We started at Tantrums & Tiaras in Putney before meeting the boys for lunch by the river then we went to The Wedding Dress Shop in Wimbledon Park. We had a great time at the dress shops; Ashleigh was able to try on quite a few in different styles and materials to get an idea of the sort of thing she wants. There were a couple of favourites, even though it was just the first day of shopping, and I think she is going to go back to one of the shops with mum when she is down with my aunt in July.
In between the dress shopping, we took Enzo to the park where he had his first go on the swings, the slide & the seesaw! We stayed in on Saturday night with an Indian takeaway and a few more drinks! Enzo didn't want to miss any of the excitement of people visiting and wouldn't go to sleep at all! Mummy and Daddy eventually had to take him to bed around 11pm!
The next day, after a lazy morning, we went for lunch and then on to Selfridges. They were having a sample sale of their Vera Wang dresses, so we had to pop along, since there was no need for an appointment. Ashleigh tried on quite a few dresses here too; it was a bit different than a normal dress shop or even sample sale as you were able to just get the dresses and put them on yourself. Which was good as there was no sales pitch, but I can see how the dresses could get even more damaged pretty quickly. Some of the Vera Wang dresses were stunning but so expensive, even at half price in the sale!
The weekend ended with a little drama attempting to get back to their flat; the tube at Oxford Circus was packed out so we couldnt get the buggy or even ourselves on it! This meant we couldn't get back to Victoria in time to get the train back to pick up our stuff at theirs, then make it back to the train we wanted to get to Gatwick. So a quick change of plan was needed; since we only needed to get to the airport at a certain time to pick up our boarding cards {we were already checked in and only had hand luggage}, we managed to find an internet cafe once we got to Victoria and printed our boarding cards out, meaning we could afford to get the later train! Turns out that even with getting the later train, we still ended up with plenty of time to spare at the airport, which we will remember the next time we are down. We have quite a busy summer coming up with hen & stag nights, then our trip to Italy so we may not see them all again until we go down in September for Enzo's 1st birthday; he will have changed so much by then!
