Wedding Invitation - 02.10.09

We received our invite to my friends wedding on Friday the 2nd of October yesterday. It is my friend from work, Stacey, who I studied with for the last year {doing our Part 3 Architect exams} and who I go to swing dancing with on a Tuesday, so as you can imagine we have been almost talking non-stop about our weddings since I also got engaged. I'm so excited to be invited and cant wait as I love weddings and its wonderful to see what others have chosen to do for their special day. Her fiance Andrew also works at our office so I know both the bride & groom. This will be wedding no.3 of the year as we had a school friends wedding on the 7th of February and then my work friends evening reception on the 28th of February. Now I need to start looking for an outfit that could/will also double as my outfit for my niece or nephews christening in November, {I'm thinking the perfect excuse to get away with a more expensive dress since it is for 2 occasions!}

Happy Birthday!

Recently I have started to make my own cards. Although its not wedding related, its something I enjoy doing and since its definitely one of my latest obsessions which takes up a lot of my time, I thought I should share it on this blog! Here is a card I made for my friend and bridesmaid Karen-Louise's birthday today. I think it turned out quite well for my first attempt at a birthday card without a proper plan before I started or a sketch to work from.

8 months to go!

Only 8 months to go! The time is flying by! We have managed to accomplish quite a lot in the last month. We booked the all important Honeymoon, sent almost all the save the date cards {just a couple more to finish tonight}, and we have pretty much chosen the bridesmaids dresses {Hazel is coming up on Saturday to try it on too}. I also managed to find another possible rubber stamp for the invites. I have also made lots of baby announcement cards for Ashleigh {a post will follow about them once she has seen them}, as well as some new baby cards. I have made 2 boy & 2 girl cards so for 3 babies I'm hoping that will be ok, unless they all have boys! {Angela had a baby boy this morning! Yippee finally one of the babies arrived!} Not really sure what we are going to do next, I'm going to put off the florist until I get my dress material sample and we have made a final decision on the bridesmaids dress colour. Norton house are having a wedding open day on the 15th which I think we...

Bits & bobs

We have managed to do a few wedding related things over the last week or so but they probably don't need a post of their own! I sent more of the save the date cards out; the only ones left to do and be sent are the ones that I was waiting for their addresses, or ones where I managed to spell the names wrong! A proper post will follow about the save the date cards once they have all been sent. I liked how they turned out and we have had some lovely comments about them too. We got our honeymoon confirmation and deposit receipt along with booking forms through last week. The forms are to confirm what our Travel Counsellor Helene had already booked for us, so we signed and returned those on Saturday. They came in a travel wallet with luggage tags too which may be useful. We also received a 'have a happy honeymoon' card from Helene on Thursday which was a nice touch. We are now waiting on the official confirmation and invoice from Kuoni which will detail our itinerary. This mo...

WW Week 28...

...no official weigh-in; We stayed at Grahams parents in Haddington on Friday night so couldn't face getting up early enough to get back to the meeting in Edinburgh. We were out having dinner with my aunt & uncle from Australia, as well as mum and dad and my aunt Janice & uncle Willie, before they went home today. I didn't use my home scales yesterday either. Since it was the 1st of the month, I went to meet the girls for coffee {all of my friends from school meet up on the 1st of every month when we can, means that although some I see quite often, its a good chance to catch up with everyone}. So the cheese scone I had there then the Chinese takeaway at my bridesmaid Karen-Louise's at night probably wont have helped for next week!

31st July 1976

Happy Anniversary Mum & Dad On this day, 33 years ago, my parents got married. Five and a half years later, I came along and my sister followed almost 3 years after that. Doesn't my mum look beautiful, she was only 20 at the time so very young as well. Seeing as I will be 28 when I get married next year, I cant imagine getting married so young! Check out my dads moustache, very 70's! He looked very smart in his top hat and tails too but he now has a full kilt outfit which he will wear for my wedding. They only had 13 official pictures in their album, as well as a few snapshots. I loved getting the photos out and rummaging through them all. There were no photos inside the church though. My dad also noticed that they never had a photo of all the guests together and said it was something he would have liked to have been able to look at again. Definitely one for our photographers list! Waiting, waiting, waiting!

As you know, my bridesmaid and best friend Lucy is pregnant. She was due yesterday {29th July} and there is no sign of the baby yet! I also have another friend that is pregnant too. Angela was due last Friday {24th July} and she is still waiting for her baby too! Hopefully we will have some news from at least one of them this weekend! Cant wait to meet the new arrivals and I'm sure the mums to be cant wait either! Unfortunately, Angela lives down near London so I probably wont get to see her baby until I go down to see my new niece or nephew in September. Lucy lives nearby so we will be going to visit as soon as we can!
